New Orleans is much more than Mardi Gras and music. The city covers 365 square miles - one for every day of the year - but more than 150 square miles are under water. The city is surrounded by water and is divided by the Mississippi River. Very appropriately, the theme of the 1984 World Exposition was “Fresh Water - the Source of Life and Culture.” New Orleans has the Vieux Carre’ (the French Quarter) - Audubon Zoo - the Superdome - Lake Pontchartrain - Jazz Museums - Creole Cooking. It has everything!
