Official Cadette, Senior, Ambassador Cargo Vest

The girls love the look of the cargo vest. The material gets mixed reviews-- nice and soft, or icky plastic feel (and hot). The pockets are cute, but almost completely useless. Girls can barely fit all 4 fingers in the larger pockets (on Adult Med vest), i.e. no wiggle room. When it was time to add badges and patches, a big thumbs down. The fabric melts when ironing, so everything needs to be sewn on. The collar hides where insignia is supposed to go, so figuring out the placement is tricky. There's hardly room to sew badges on front around pockets and snaps, so you need to hand stitch or close the pockets if by machine. The elastic in the back provides a fitted look look for girls with waists, but more misery when trying to sew patches-- there are sections above and below the elastic where you can't sew patches. GS must not expect C-S-A to earn many badges or patches. If only judging on style, I'd give it a higher rating, but it fails on function, which is its main purpose.

Cannot iron on the patches for this vest. Vest is extremely difficult to sew with. Will not purchase this item again

My troop absolutely loves this vest. They like the fit, fabric, style and most of all the pockets.

I had our wonderful seamstress expand the existing zipper pockets to be longer so they will now fit a cellphone or a glasses case. I love the concept of a vest with pockets but it is sad that GSUSA didn’t bother to make them a functional size. If this were an item designed for boys or men, you can bet there would be functionally sized pockets.

I like the new style vests but they are very pricey for troop accounts/parents on a budget

Lightweight and stretchy material is great. My girls love the pockets and look.

Fabric is soft and light weight. Easy to take on/off. Pockets + style. My daughter loves it.

It was perfect for my daughter. The package arrived in a timely manor and I could tell was packed with care.

Don't iron on any patches, the vest will melt. I'm not sure who decided that this should be almost completely made of polyester, but that was a terrible decision. Anything more than a slightly warm iron makes the vest melt. I had to buy a replacement.

I like the style of the vest. The pockets are a nice addition; however, I don't care of the material. As a mom who has to iron on lots of badges, I worry that I am going to singe the material with the iron. Never worried about that with the regular material.
